THE WINNER of this year's Great Langdale Marathon was Nigel Thompson of Lytham St Annes RR, who had seven minutes to spare over his closest rival in Sunday's race.
Thompson clocked 3hours 3minutes 2seconds to finish first ahead of Tim Price (Solihull & Small Heath) in 3-10-25, with a veteran woman runner, Adela Salt (Trentham RC) capturing third place in 3-15-46.
The first local club runner was David White of Helm Hill Runners, 12th in 3-34-09.
Familiar Langdale visitor over the years, Paul Muller of Horwich RMI Harriers won the Great Langdale Half-Marathon in 1-17-50.
Peter Banks (Blackburn H) was second in 1-22-12 and Kendal AC's Jamie Robbins third in 1-23-46, with Ambleside's Ben Abdelnoor fourth in 1-24-23.
The first woman was Sarah Ridehalgh (Accrington RR), 14th in 1-29-24.
