THE YORKSHIRE Dales town of Settle is the venue for the inaugural Settle Cycle Festival on Saturday, September 27 from 10am to 4pm.
Organised by Settle World Wide Wheelers, the festival events include a ten-mile Family Sportive Ride, a race on closed road, a Go Ride Area in conjunction with local schools and a Settle World Wide Wheelers stand area with info about the club.
There will also be a wine-tasting and information about sponsors, second-hand bikes for sale, advice about cycling, obstacle races, a guided mountain-bike ride over the newly-opened Settle Loop and lots of other attractions.
The organisers state: “The festival is an opportunity for all to learn something new about cycling and will hopefully be a springboard to introducing lots of new people to this great sport.
“The Settle WWW’s focus is to encourage participation among the local youth (to add to the talented youngsters already in the club) with a view to [perhaps finding a future cycling start for 2012 and beyond.”
The festival form a lively weekend in the Settle area with the Settle Music Festival taking place on Friday, September 26 and the Three Peaks International Cyclo-Cross Event on Sunday (Settle WWW will meet at the Market Square, Settle at 9am to ride up to watch the event).
