RALLY driver Kris Hall is gearing up for the penultimate round of the Fiesta Sporting Trophy this weekend after being "robbed" a victory on the previous round.
Hall, from Appleby, was the quickest out of the blocks on last month’s Swansea Bay Rally, setting the fastest time over the six-mile first stage.
He continued to set the pace, winning the next two stages and clocking up a handy 26-second lead over championship leader Evens.
Going into the last stage Hall was confident his maiden win was just around the corner.
All went well and, although he backed off slightly to ensure he reached the finish, where Hall appeared to have won by a comfortable 19 seconds.
Shortly after the champagne had been sprayed, the win was handed to main rival Elyfn Evens due to an incident on special stage 2 after the front-runners had past through.
The stage was scrapped, dropping Hall to second place by an agonising three seconds through no fault of his own.
