James Ellison is aiming to round off the 2008 Bennetts British Superbike Championship in style when he heads to Brands Hatch this weekend.
Kendal’s Hydrax Bike Animal racer currently lies in seventh place in the standings, 34 points down on the experienced Michael Rutter. But for his one and only indiscretion on his comeback season, when the Hydrax rider slid off in the first race at Silverstone, 28-year-old Ellison could have been realistically challenging for a top six placing, after claiming three podiums throughout the season.
Ellison said: “I’m really looking forward to Brands Hatch to try to get around the problems we had at Silverstone.
“It’s a bit of a short circuit and not much you can do there with settings, so I reckon we’ll be competitive. I’ll just keep trying for this elusive win. I have two chances left and I’d like to get that top step of the podium for all the team to pay them back for all their hard work.”
The first of the 30-lap encounters is scheduled for 2pm with the second race getting under way at 4.45pm.
