KENDAL Squash Club has launched a membership drive and Club Chair Penny Hitchin made a plea for new players to join up.
She said: “Kendal Squash Club is a terrific resource for the South Lakeland community. We have excellent facilities offering probably the cheapest squash in the county.”
She added:“We want to encourage new people to come and enjoy the game, and can arrange coaching at all levels, including beginners.
“If there is sufficient interest, group coaching for beginners as well as a half-term junior programme will run.”
The club is in the centre of town, across the car park from near the Brewery Arts Centre.

The previous week’s winning team was Welton, Wharton, Michael Standring, Noblett and Lupton The A team faced a tougher proposition at Appleby. After a tussle, the home side won 3-2. The Kendal winners were new boy Matthew Walker at No. 1 and Erik Worsley, back No. 3.
The ladies team did not fare so well, crashing to a 4-1 home defeat to Carlisle. The sole winner was Mary Ockenden at No. 5. The team has been depleted by injuries and retirement.
