KENDAL Town went down 3-0 to Stamford in the FA Trophy's first round on Saturday.
After early promise, Town fell behind when Stamford went ahead through Watson's headed effort after 26 minutes.
Town missed the chance of an equaliser when a Michael Cole penalty was saved and he hit the rebound over the bar.
In the second half, after early chances Kendal went 2-0 down in the 65th minute Cotton had a simple finish from close range.
Town had Jimmy Williams sent off for a two-footed challenge and on 82 minutes Stamford grabbed a third goal.
Ian Kilford, who was on the sidelines, was also dismissed after an altercation with the lineman.
