Orienteering - Class winners on Rishworth Moor

ORIENTEERING: Local orienteers were class winners at East Pennine OC’s Rishworth Moor event close to the M62 on the Yorkshire/Lancashire boundary. Lakeland OC's Janet Nash won over the Women 55 Long course and BARRO's Carl Edmonds' success was over the Junior Men's 5 Medium course.

The area was fairly runnable open moorland, with navigational tests being set on the more complex hillsides.

Other LOC senior results were Judy Burge second, Pauline Richardson third and Judith Filmore 12th in W50L. Tony Richardson was second M60L, Steve Burge third M65L and John Nash 12th M55L. Selwyn Wright and Simon Filmore were sixth and seventh in M50L.

Other junior results were Thomas Edmonds (BARRO) second in JM1, Simon Austin (BARRO) third and Jack Wright (LOC) fifth in JM5L.

Lakeland OC's next event will be on Sunday 9 November on Wharton Fell & Birkett Common near Kirkby Stephen. The venue at GR 768 035 will be signposted from A683 & B6259, 6K South of the town. Colour coded classes will be available. For further details, contact the organiser on 015396 23377.
