THE festive season signals a break in the rugby calendar with local and National Leagues shutting down until after New Year.
No such luck for the footballers though as they face one of the busiest weeks of their season.
Kendal Town will be looking to end 2008 on a high note against Cammell Laird on Boxing Day.
Town travel to Merseyside for a 3pm kick-off.
SATURDAY (December 27) also sees a full list of fixtures in the North Lancashire League with games being played throughout the divisions. In the Premier Division, Ingleton face a short journey down the A65 to face Kirkby Lonsdale.
Meanwhile, Cartmel will be looking to move up the table as they host Swarthmoor Social Club at home. The Westmorland League sees fewer fixtures with seventh-placed Ambleside travelling to fourth in the league Keswick in the First Division.
SATURDAY also sees one of the last fell races of the year. The Wansfell fell race starts from the Old Kelsick School at noon with the organisers promising mince pies, cups of tea and prizes after the event. For more information, call Danny on 01539-735953.
