Backlog may lead to Sunday fixtures

PROLONGED wintry weather has led to such a blacklog of fixtures in the Talbot Insurance Westmorland League that clubs are being canvassed about playing on Sundays as well as Saturdays.

League secretary Ron Wilkinson has written to club secretaries regarding the build-up of matches outstanding because of postponements.

He asked: "It was suggested that we (the executive) ask clubs when their pitch is unfit to consider switching games to their opponent's ground if this was available, and the reverse fixture had still to be played.

"Also I would be grateful if clubs could contact me to indicate whether any teams would be willing to play a fixture on a Sunday (as well as Saturday).
