KENDAL skipper Ian Voortman returns to his former club Sedgley Tigers today (Saturday), leading his side out in the hope of causing a major upset in the EDF Energy National Trophy (2.30pm).
Voortman spent four "happy seasons" with the Tigers, helping them gain promotion to National 1 and he revealed that is will be an emotional return whatever the outcome of the fifth-round tie.
He said: "I loved my time at Sedgley.. as a player you want to play at the highest levle possible and being young and just married it was also a great time to be in Manchester.
"We made a lot of very good friends at the club and it was a sad decision to have to make to leave two seasns ago.
"Sedsgley had made me a good offer at the end of my last season there, butthinking things over as a family in the summer we decidedto move bakc to Kendal, which is such a great place to bring up kids.
"But it was disappointing that I left without being able to say goodbye to everyone."
And he added: "My team talk at Kendal this week has been that if any chances come along, then we must make sure we grab them with both hands."
Kenda name an unchanged starting line-up from last week, with New Zealander rob Aloe on the bench and expected to make his debut for the team after arriving at the club recently.
Hooker Duncan Green is still sidelined with a shoulder-ligament problem and Allen Martindale comes into the front row.
It is also a big day for Kirkby Lonsdale, who are hoping to become one of four northenr sides to go through to the fina lstages of the EDF Energy Senior Vase.
Kirkby host top Yorkshire I side Old Brodleians at Underley Park, having enojyed a great run in cup and league so far this season (2pm kick-off)
