BLUEFIN Westmorland Football reports: Wetheriggs 3.
Greystoke 5.
WETHERIGGS suffered their second league defeat of the season as local rivals Greystoke put in a great perfomance.
Poor defending allowed Kev Pattinson to open the scoring for the visitors, and although Wetheriggs got one back via a Phil Askins spot kick, a poor back pace once again presented Pattinson with another chance that he duly converted.
Pattinson completed a neat hat trick shortly after when Greyriggs were awarded a penalty.
A shocked Wetherigg’s went all out attack and got instant results with Grant Davidson finding the net.
In another twist Wetherigg’s then drew level as a fine strike from Martin Strong beat the Greystoke keeper, but Greystoke showed great character to score twice late on and claim the win.
Sedbergh Wanderers 2.
Coniston 0.
SEDBERGH were full of confidence with three transfers coming to the club. Three Sedbergh lads - Paul Farrell, Robert Moffat (from Dent) and Shaun Gardner (from Carvetti) all went straight into this game and it paid of for manager Dan Mason when striker Gardner scored both goals before half time.
Coniston came out stronger in the second half but man of the match defender Tim Baines kept Coniston out and gave Sedbergh a well-earned three points. Sedbergh reserves earned a point at Langwathby with a 1-1 draw thanks to striker Ian Marshall.
Kendal County 2.
Carvetii Utd 4.
TWO teams who liked to play good passing high tempo football met at Kendal County's ground on Saturday and it was Carvetii who came out on top after taking a 3-0 lead before half time.
Charles Bowman outpaced his marker to cross from the byline to find Clyde Harris at the far post to score unchallenged.
Carvetii's second came as Andy Lockhart was quickest to the ball and after a 20-yard run unleashed an unstoppable shot giving County keeper no chance.Simon Parkin made it 3-0 as he fired in from close range.
Shell-shocked county came out in the second half determined to get back in the game, but solid defending and a series of smart saves from Matt Parkin kept the home team at bay until ten minutes form time when County took a quick free kick and Steve Robinson curled his shot into the top corner.
Lockhart finished any hope of a County comeback as his 20-yard shot found the bottom corner.
With only two minutes left the home side got a penalty decision in their favour and Jimmy Ellwood made no mistake with his spot kick to make the scoreline more respectable for the Kendal team.
Penrith Rangers 0.
Appleby 0.
IT was important for Appleby not to lose this game against a Penrith side capable of turning over top opposition. Penrith might feel a bit despondent they did not take the win after striking the crossbar in a match of few chances.
Appleby keeper Paul Crawford made a good save early on and his opposite number rated late but also kept out a deflected David Nugent free kick.
In the second half, Penrith spurned an opened goal as a strong wind played its part and they also hit the bar. John Coward might have had a penalty for Appleby if he had gone down in the penalty area when caught by a defender, but the honest striker, though he stumbled, stayed on his feet, trying to reach the ball.
Appleby Reserves drew 2-2 with Penrith Rangers Reserves thanks to goals from Andrew Little and Scot Sowerby.
Ambleside 5.
Windermere 1.
David Cooper hit a hat-trick as Amblesdie found something like their best form to dispatch rather tame derby opponents Widnermere.
Cooper's first goal came from the penalty spot after Zach Clark was brought down and then Chris Barton put him through to round the keeper for a second..
Craig Edmondson released Cooper again and thoug hthe keeper saved thei ntitial shot, the striker tucked away the rebound.
Windermere hit back with a breakaway goal but swere under the cosh.
The keeper made some good saves, ban an own goal put Ambleside 4-1 up before Chris Barton volleyed home from a corner, the winnersable to afford Matt Parkinson missing two open goals.
Centre-back Barton was man of the match with his distribution and passing furelling many attacks.
