Milnthorpe Cors 1.
Crooklands C 1.
A LATE own goal ensured Milnthorpe Corinthians were forced to split the points with old rivals Crookland Casuals in a close run 1-1 daw in this West Lancs League match.
With defenders on top in the early stages, strikers were left with little to feed off as much of the first half was played out around the centre circle.
With 35 minutes gone the home side were handed the advantage as Chris Vincent spun his man in the Casuals area only to be hacked down by another defender and awarded the spot kick.
The striker made no mistake from the penalty sending the keeper the wrong way to claim his 11th goal of the season and give his side a 1-0 lead at the interval.
It was a case of ‘as you were’ for the second half as the midfielders picked up the battle where they had left off with plenty of lively tackles flying in, After 70 minutes Casuals drew level as veteran defender Neil Hayton spooned his attempted clearance past his own goalkeeper for a wicked own goal.
Milnthorpe almost snatched it at the end when Ollie Wilson’s delicate chip from just inside the box hit the crossbar, but the ball did not go in and the whistle sounded with the scores level.
