A SPIRITED second-half display from Kendal could not wrest the spoils from Nuneaton in a 21-13 defeat on their National League 3 North travels to the Midlands.
After an exchange of penalties, lively Nuneaton had the best of the first-half exchanges and crossed the visitors' tryline twice to rack up 18-3 lead.
Kendal refused to give up on the game and came back in the second half, finding more success by keeping the ball tight rather than kicking to touch, and fought back with well-worked tries from Liam Hayton and Lewis Boyd, both unconverted.
That clawed the deficit back to 18-13 to put them back in contention for the final 20 minutes, but Nuneaton held them at bay and added a late penalty to seal the win.
