SOUTH Lakeland's James Knox, a member of the Helm Hill Runners club in Kendal, was a titlewinner in the fiercely competitive National Cross Country Championships at Parliament Fields on Saturday.
Knox, from Levens, took first place with a three-second victory over Max Nicholls of Ashford AC from a 300-plus strong field in the Under-13 boys race.
Kendal AC's Sarah Tunstall also had a stunning run,the Kirkby Stephen physiotherapist finishing runner-up in the senior women's race, with team-mate Gemma Miles also to the fore in 12th.
