9:11am Thursday 26th February 2009

FACING their third match in a week, Kendal Town take on Radcliffe Borough in a bid to reach the final of the Lancashire Co-op Senior Cup at Parkside tonight (Thursday).

Town have recorded successes over Padiham, Marine and Southport to get this the last four of the competition. Radcliffe, who play a level below Town in the Unibond North, and are currently lying second from bottom come to Kendal as underdogs, but they have had a great run in the cup with wins over Leigh Genesis and Fleetwood Town.

Town lost two consecutive league games by the same 2-1 scoreline at home to FC United on Saturday and then Frickley Athletic on Tuesday evening.

In this week's Ashy's Angle - published in Friday's Westmorland Gazette - Town boss Lee Ashcroft says having a cup final opportunity has been important for the club, and hopes the fans will get behind his side.

Mercurial winger Carl Osman is likely to be out after he picked up an injury before the FC United game, but Town welcome back defender/midfielder Paul Byrne into the squad.
