JAMES Dent has been chosen to ride for Carnforth-based Nmoto Supplies Husqvarna , which runs a high-profile team competing in World Supermoto as well as its local Enduro outfit.
It confirms that the career of 15-year-old Dent is on an upward curve after he finished runner-up in the 14-16 year age group category of the Motul British Hare Scramble Championship last year.
He also showed his worth when taking on adult competition in a Chorley Motocross Club race this year, completing the three-hour test in second place.
This season Dent will compete in the youth class of the Great British X Country Championship.
Run as far afield as Devon and Kent, the seven-round championship is to be televised on Sky Sports and also streamed on to the internet.
Moto Supplies Husqvarna’s World Supermoto team comprises Matt Winstanley and Chris Hodgson, while Dent joins Mike Irvine in the firm’s Enduro team.
Dent, who competing in Enduros when 12, said: “I never expected anything like this...it came completely out of the blue. I never thought I’d be in the same team as international riders Matt Winstanley and Chris Hodgson.
“I have ridden the Husqvarna WR 125 on several occasions and it seems to get better and better. I’m really looking forward to riding against some of the best Under-16s in the country.
“The Moto Supplies Husqvaran team is a great set-up and I feel privileged to ride for them.”
