GOALS in each half from Michael Cole and Craig Hobson ensured Kendal Town claimed a comfortable 2-0 win over struggling Leigh Genesis at Parkside.
Despite having first team regulars David Newnes, Daniel Wordsworth and Alex Taylor out after failing late fitness tests, Town rarely looked anything but in control and dominated proceedings for much of the evening.
In a good start Kendal dictated play with quick passing and intelligent ball retention. Their early endeavour was rewarded on 9 minutes when Midfielder Michael Cole volleyed in from inside the area of Lee Mulvaney’s cross from the right.
The home side continued to do all the attacking with Dave Foster seeing his athletic volley inadvertently cleared off the by his team mate Mulvaney and Danny Wisdom hitting the post on 30 minutes.
In the second half Kendal’s play didn’t quite have the fluidity it had in the first, but with Warburton and Beattie manning the engine room Leigh were kept at arm’s length and stand in keeper Tom Bush was rarely called into action.
Bush’s most telling contribution came right at the end of the match when a long clearance down field was knocked on by Mulvaney and substitute Craig Hobson ran on to beat the keeper to the loose ball and make it 2-0 on 89 minutes.
Kendal have now won three on the bounce ahead of their trip to Guiseley this Saturday
