PREMIER Division Cartmel travelled to play Millhead in the fourth round of the Adam and Gaskell Senior Cup and found it anything but easy against lowly Division One opponents.
Millhead often had Cartmel back pedalling in a close game but goals by the energetic Scott Burrows (2) and Dean Richards cancelled out the strikes by Bradley Shuttleworth and Dominic Wooff to put Cartmel in the semi-finals.
Carnforth Rangers and Highgrove were involved in one of the semi-finals and it went to extra time then penalties. Highgrove captain Russell Mitchell put his side ahead, but Carnforth’s Matthew Garwood equalised and the tie went to a penalty shoot-out after extra time.
In the tense finish from the spot Carnforth were edged out 4-3.
