DAVID Foster ensured Kendal Town go into Saturday’s showdown with Unibond League leaders Eastwood with three straight wins behind them after his goal secured a 1-0 win away at Prescot Cables.
It was far from vintage stuff from Town who had to contend with a physical Prescot side and driving rain for much of the encounter. But Lee Ashcroft’s men put in a workman like performance to secure a hugely important three points to stay in the promotion places.
Foster’s goal arrived on 61 minutes. A terrible back pass from a Prescot midfielder bypassed his own defence and went straight to Foster who quickly controlled and dispatched the ball past the on coming keeper.
Once having taken the lead Town shut up shop and defended their lead well with Melling and Wordsworth cancelling out the home sides long ball tactics and Town claimed a huge three points.
Next up is for Kendal is league-leaders Eastwood Town in Nottinghamshire this Saturday. Kick off 3pm.
