KENDAL AC runner Sarah Tunstall has described her first taste of World Cross Country Championship running as “ very, very tough.”
The Kirkby Stephen resident was part of the Great Britain team that competed in the eight-kilometre event in Amman, Jordan.
Sarah finished the race in 29.07, coming in 55th overall as Team GB finished in ninth place.
The Eden star admitted while she had enjoyed the event she wasn’t overly pleased with her standings, telling the Gazette; “ It was a great experience but I was a bit disappointed with my time.”
The conditions made it very hard going, in the UK we’re used to eight kilometres of boggy ground. In Jordan we were running on a very solid track which, combined with the altitude and humidity made it difficult.”
Sarah now plans to spend her summer competing in five and ten kilometre races before resuming her cross country running when the season starts back up in autumn.
