BORDERLINERS OC’s colour-coded event at Coombs Wood near Armathwaite was the latest counter in the Cumbrian Orienteering Galoppen series.
High scorers for Lakeland OC were Richard Wilson and Robert Browne, third and fifth on the 6.5km Brown course; Conan Harrod, fifth on the 5km Blue; Martin Powell and Karen Farley, fifth and eighth on the 3.8km Green; Stan and Verena Johnston, second and fifth on the 2.7km Short Green and junior Matt Edge, ninth on the less technical Light Green course.
Warrior OC’s leading scorers were Julia Laverack, first woman and ninth overall on Brown; Andrew Whitehead, seventh on Green and John and Pat Howell, first and sixth on Short Green. Junior Warriors Rachel and Amy Whitehead were 11th and 12th on the 1.9km Orange course, Kirsten Ramsay fourth on Yellow and sister Jennifer 12th on White.
Other notable results were Barrow OC’s Carl Edmonds, first junior in 14th place on Blue and brother Thomas, second on White. Lakeland veteran John Bettinson was first over 65 in 27th place on Blue and Bob Stewardson, first over 75 at 38th on Green.
Other Lakeland results were on Blue: Richard Tiley 11th, Graham Farley 20th, Derek Fryer 22nd, Steve Edge 26th, Dave Jones 32nd, Steve Burge 33rd and Anne Wilson 41st; Green: Becca McKenny 11th, Kate Farley 14th, John Pullin 15th, Dave Neild 17th, Lucy Fryer 18th, Steve Kruger 19th, Janet Nash 23rd, Rachel Turner 27th, Helen Neild 28th, Lindsay Harrod 31st, Gill Browne 33rd and Richard Day 35th.
