KENDAL’S Director of Rugby Chris Hayton gives his weekly view:.

A FIVE- point win against leaders Nuneaton - we just needed a challenge!

The game was played at a tremendous pace and it was great to see us take it to them with control and accuracy.

Both sides were out on their feet at the end but we had matched and beaten them - the only side to beat them on home territory so far this season.

A four-try haul from Boyd and a Butler brace, the second of which had a touch of Zinadane rather than Zane about it, showed where we beat them.

Nuns loss and Caldy's draw against Darlington Mowden Park means the promotion relegation battle is hotting up.

Fylde, now in second place, play Nuns on the final Saturday of the season in what could be for the championship.

We ourselves will play our part in deciding the future of other clubs, starting with Darlington Mowden Park this Saturday.

DMP are making a real fight of their last fixtures.

They have beaten Halifax and Macclesfield away from home, drawn with Caldy at Caldy and lost narrowly to Harrogate.

We have been on the wrong end of some hidings at Yewsley Drive in the past so Saturday will be a real battle.

We beat them 34-13 in September and will need to repeat Saturday's efforts to match their backs to the wall spirit to get a result up there. There is the challenge.
