Local marathoners take on Greek challenge

THREE runners from South Lakeland braved baking temperatures and mountainous terrain to complete a historic marathon and raise money for charity.

Charles Sproson, of Windermere, and Chris Graham and Myles Uren, both of Kendal, completed the Original Marathon in Athens finishing at the ancient Panathinaiko stadium within 10 minutes of each other at around the three-and-a-half hour mark.

The trio raised over £3,000 for research into Multiple Sclerosis. For details of their fund raising efforts call Chris Graham on 01539-730324.
