AMBLESIDE United have an unassailable lead at the top of the Bluefin Westmorland league division 1 with just one game of their season left to go.
A stunning 5-1 win over third placed Carvetii United kept Ambleside ahead of their nearest rivals Wetheriggs and doused any hopes Carvetii had of crashing the championship party.
Another convincing 2-4 win midweek against tenth placed Sedbergh Wanderers ensured Ambleside made the most of their game in hand to put four points between them and Wetheriggs.
Wetheriggs cruised passed Shap 1- 4 last Saturday, Ambleside’s good form means that whatever the score in tomorrow’s end of season showdown between the pair, Wetheriggs can not catch their rivals.
In division 2, the title race mirrors that of the first. Kirkoswald’s one point advantage over Wetheriggs United Res will be enough to see them claim top spot this season as chasing Wetheriggs United Res have run out of games to catch Kirkoswald.
Endmoor KGR have cemented their place in at the top of division 3 having taken 54 points from 22 games to beat their nearest rivals Carvetii United Res to the Championship by four points.
Division 4 couldn’t have finished any tighter at the top with Alston Moor’s vastly superior goal difference seeing them claim top spot from Langwathby United Res after both sides finished the season on 56 points.
