NETHERFIELD had to endure an unsatisfactory end to their rain-hit ECB National Clubs' Knockout match against Preston at Parkside Road on Sunday.
After opener Craig Walmsley hammered a top-scoring century and newcomer Alex Atkinson made his first half-century for his new side, Netherfield looked in a formidable position at 257-9 off their 45 overs.
Prreston were an uncomfortable 89-3 in reply after 16 overs when rain closed in to prevent further play and made it a void match - with 20 overs needing to be bowled to count.
Instead it went to a bowl-out - five bowlers each bowling two balls at the stums - and Netherfield lost 3-2.
Saturday's league match at home to Leyland was washed out on Saturday, while Kendal had a bye day.
