A QUICKFIRE unbeaten half-century from Craig Walmsley helped Netherfield put Kendal to the sword in an eight-wicket victory in the Furness BS Northern League derby match at Parkside Road on Monday.

Kendal's batting let them down as they lost the top order relatively quickly (11-3 in the sixth over) and, after standing at 25-4, they went on to only reach 100 all out in the 50th over.

Top scorer was Paul Dodds with 26 with opener Gareth Ashburner contributing 20, the same score as tailender Nicky Lewthwaite.

Spinner Chris Miller took 3-19 with the professional Glen Batticciotto 2-22, Marc Hadwin 2-32 and Stuart Nixon 2-14.

Netherfield made smooth progress to their target and reached 43 before the first wicket went with skipper Chris Parry departing for 17.

Batticciotto made 22 as the score moved on to 88 before he was out to a fine diving catch by Terry Hunte.

Walmsley kept up the Bank Holiday shot spree, hitting three sixes and seven fours in his 57 not out off 46 balls as Netherfield clinched the 12-point win at 100-2 in just 17.3 overs.
