SCHOOLGIRL Victoria Hevey was outstanding for Troutbeck Bridge SC at the Cumbria Age Group competitions.
The 16-year-old swept to a bronze medal in the women’s 50m backstroke champiosnhip and also took thirdp lace in her age group.
The following week at Kendal, she had her greatest success to date.
In the women’s 100m backstroke Hevey worked hard to stay up with the pace-setting Laura Huggon (Penrith) over the first 50m with Lucy Johnson (Cockermouth) also in the hunt.
In a lung-bursting finish Huggon opened a five-second lead to take the gold medal, while Hevey was just touched out into bronze by Johnson.
The junior women's 100m backstroke championship also went to Johnson, but this time Hevey took silver and colelcted third-placed age-group badges for the 100 and 200m backstroke.
An outstanding piece of breaststroke swimming from Stephanie Booth took her to second place from Lucy Mckenzie (Cockermouth) with five others finishing within a second of her.
