Lanequest s - Series leaders complete three wins in a row


THE THIRD Lakeland Lanequest provided a third clear win in a row for Mike Toyn, Wheelbase (series sponsors) rider, at the event from Bendrigg Lodge, Old Hutton.

On a spectacular ride Toyn visited all 30 controls, scoring maximum points, and returning with ten minutes to spare!

He was last year’s overall series winner and looks well on course to retain his series title this year.

He was followed in the Solo Men class by David Hollingham, who was unable to compete in the first two events due to injury, he visited all 30 controls but had time penalties to score 292.

In joint third place with 280 points were Andy Stubbs, Henry Syska and Ray Morriss, followed closely by Alan Hartley and Antony Gill both with 278.

The event started from Bendrigg Lodge and covered an area that included New Hutton, Kilington, Gatebeck, and Old Town.

Once again Anne Plant in the Solo Women class won, scoring 260 points, for her third clear win in a row, from three riders sharing second place Lisa Whetter, Lynne Woods and Sue Woods all with 230, and close behind Mary Ockenden with 220 points.

Another very impressive score of 250 points from Tim Crozier in the Junior class, followed by James Human & Tom Davies with 105.

The Generation Pairs was very closely contested with three teams all tying for first place; Gary & Eve Dixon; Matt & Katie Woods; Steve & Jake & Thomas Mason all with 250 points, and then Tom & Matthew Phillips 230 points. Annie Jo Gregory & Lucy Downham in the Young Juniors scored 180 points.

Andy & Sarah Crozier with 256 points, won again in the Adult pairs/3s class, closely followed by Fiona Drake & John Roberts 250 points and then four pairs all with 230 points; Billy Proctor & Shaun Adison; Jack Simpson & Matthew Murgatroyd; Pete Tyson & Dave Thrower; Vicky & Nicky Jones The next event of the series of six 2009 Lakeland Lanequests, is on Tuesday, June 30, starting from Anglers Arms, Haverthwaite. Lanequests are two-hour hour bike orienteering events on country lanes, suitable for all bikes, with all profits to local charities.
