JONATHAN Lagoe, of Lakeland OC, won the 5.9km Blue course in his club’s Cumbrian Galoppen series event over the Yewdale Fells.
Over 200 competitors took part in a range of colour-coded courses catering for different technical abilities on the complex craggy and hilly terrain.
A number of local juniors had notable performances in tackling the longer technical courses, including Barrow’s Carl Edmonds second on Blue and Lakeland’s Jack Wright and Max O’Hara fourth on the 7.4km brown and 4.km green respectively.
Lakeland juniors James Allison, Kelly Raymond and Amelia Elliott were fifth, sixth and 11th on the 3.1km Short Green.
Patrick Rigg won the 3km intermediate difficulty Light Green with Barrow’s Sarah Jones in third place, followed by Lakeland’s Adam Perry sixth, Meghan Hallatt seventh and Tom Spencer eighth.
On the 2.3km Orange course, Hannah Cleary-Hughes was second, Callum Dymond fourth, Kirsten Bell sixth and Noah Howlett seventh.
At the other end of the age spectrum, South Ribble’s Maurice Collett (M85) was 16th on Short Green and Lakeland’s Bob Stewardson (M75) 51st on Green.
Other results are Lakeland OC except where stated: Green –Tony Walker seventh, Sam Jefferson eighth, Jack Filmore 11th, Malachy Buck 13th, Steve Kruger 15th, Jack Perry 16th, Sid Smith 17th and Gill Browne 19th.
Blue - Derek Ratcliffe fifth, Richard Lecky-Thompson sixth, Mike Hobson 15th, Rick Browne 17th, Michael Hudson 18th, Simon Filmore 20th and Jackie Chapman 22nd.
Brown – Nick Howlett eighth, Andy Hyslop (WAROC) 11th, Loz Colyer 12th, Iain Smith-Ward 13th, Richard Wilson 19th, Mac Knowles 20th and Julia Laverack (WAROC) 35th.
