SIXTEEN-year-old Alisha Casement, a pupil at Queen Elizabeth School, Kirkby Lonsdale, has won her first gold medal.
She was competing in the Northern Athletics Regional Finals at Gateshead International Stadium, where she and won the Under-17 girls’ 300m hurdles.
It has been a great start to the outdoor athletics season so far for Casement (pictured).
At the Cumbria Athletic Association County Championship in Carlisle, she posted championship best-ever performances for 80m sprint hurdles (12.2sec) and the 300m hurdles (45.7sec) for under-17 girls.
She also won the 300m hurdles at the Cumbria County Schools Athletics Championships with another championship best performance.
Along with 24 other athletes, she has been selected to represent Cumbria at the English Schools’ Athletics National Finals in Sheffield later this month.
