FUNNY Enuff (J. Atkinson and E. Morton) won both the Vice-Commodore’s Prize and the Dragonfly Trophy when the Flying 15 Fleet from RWYC raced last weekend Racing took place in the southern section of Lake Windermere with 5-8mph breezes.
Good courses up to Beech Hill, with spinnaker legs from west to east and a shorter triangle to end the races, were enjoyed by the fleet of eight on Saturday and 14 on Sunday.
In an easterly breeze on Sunday, the large fleet crowded the port end of the start-line, resulting in several boats being squeezed out and the mid-line boats having the advantage of clear air.
The wind lightened leaving the fleet baking in the hot sunshine but came back, helping the rear of the fleet to catch the leaders.
Results: Vice Commodores Prize - 1st John Atkinson & Elizabeth Moreton (Funny Enuff), 2nd Carole & Dave Berry (Fftse), 3rd Frank Kelly & Doug Douglass (Factor Fifteen).
Dragonfly Trophy - 1st J Atkinson E Moreton (Funny Enuff), 2nd David Brockbank & Janet Lefton (Five), 3rd John Oxborrow & Amanda Wilson (Fiscal Folly).
Funny Enuff won The June Series (Klipspringer Trophy).
