KENDAL Town’s Alex Taylor showed little sign of pre season cobwebs with the striker bagging a hat trick as Town ran out 8-1 winners over Garstang on Monday night.
Playing in Town’s first fixture of a busy pre-season campaign Taylor scored three second half goals to put Kendal well on their way to an empathic win over West Lancashire League Garstang.
Town manager Lee Ashcroft praised the performance of Taylor saying: “ I’ve always said Alex has the potential to be a real star and he’s a massive season ahead of him. If he can stay fit he’ll continue to improve and we’ll have a chance against anyone with him in the side.”
Other goals came from winger Carl Osman while two trialists made a telling contribution with one scoring a brace and the other getting a late goal, prompting Ashcroft to acknowledge there was plenty to be optimistic about ahead of the upcoming season.
The Town boss said: “ Obviously the score doesn’t count for all that much at this stage of the season, but we put in a very good performance, the lads looked fit and really sharp but most importantly no one got injured so I was pleased.”
