TOP archers from throughout Cumbria will be takign aim at the Cumbria Country Archery Association Clout Championships this weekend..
Rather than shooting at straw targets as in target archery, clout shooting features flags in the ground at great distance. The aim is to get arrows to fly in an arc and stick in the grass as close as possible to the flag.
Scoring is done with a coloured measuring tape around the flag stick.
This record status, tassle award event will be at held Frenchfields in Penrith, on Saturday and Saturday.
Competing will be Kirsty Skivigton of Sellafield Archery Club, who won the Junior National Championships last weekend and Jackie Wilkinson, who has qualified for the GB team for the European Championships in France next month.
