KENDAL RUFC have made two signings as part of their plans for the forthcoming campaign in National League 2 North, which starts with a home match against Leicester Lions on September 5 Twenty- five-year-old Gary Hodgson has joined the Black and Ambers after a long chase to secure his signature.
He hails from Workington, but has played his rugby at Aspatria for the past four seasons, learning his trade with the former Kendal stalwart, Adrian Bateson.
Hodgson plays in the back row at No.8 and is well known for his ball skills and his pace about the park, supporting the backs.
The 15 ½ stones, 6ft 2in forward and played almost every game for Aspatria last season, scoring 14 tries.
He broke his jaw in the last game of the season, but is now fit and raring to go.
The second signing is Matt Charters from the Carlisle club.
He is rated as one of the best up-and-coming openside wing forwards in Cumbria.
He is 22 years old. and has just completed a teaching course at Lancaster University and is starting a new job at Preston in September.
