FIVE weeks remain until the end of the season in the Kendal and District Bowling League and the push for promotion place is on in earnest.
Individuals are also involved in the tussle for the merit awards.
Kings Arms Hale A maintained their winning form in Division 1 with a 9-1 win at Crosthwaite A.
Third-placed Netherfield A also showed similar dominance in their 9-1 win over Levens A.
Relegation battling KA Hale B, meanwhile, had an 8-2 success against Abbot Hall A, who are also to near the bottom, helped their cause.
Steve Carruthers of Windermere A (38pts +107) is leading the merits table, with Ian Nicholson of Netherfield A (37pts +167) hot on his tail.
Cruising at the top of Division2, Bowness A drew 5-5 at Lower Holker A. Not far behind them are Ambleside A, who won 9-1 against Burton.
Strong performances from Ingleborough A with a 9-1 victory over Victoria B and Holme C, also 9-1 winners at Levens B, mean the chase is not over yet.
Leading the merits is David Travis, of Subscription A (37pts +111), with Derek Tebay, Ambleside A, not far behind (36pts +117).
Netherfield C’s 10-0 romp over Abbot Hall B moved them into second place in Division 3.
They are only three points adrift of Kirkby Lonsdale, who were 9-1 winners against Bowness B.
At the bottom, Holme D fought back with a 7-3 win away to clubmates Holme B.
Holme D, Abbot Hall B and Bowness B all need points over the next few weeks to avoid relegation.
Erline Robinson, of Lindale A, tops the merits (38pts +106), ahead of Bill Keating, also of Lindale A, (32 +83).
Sedbergh and Burneside B keep swapping spots at the top of Division 4. Burneside B won 8-2 against Crosthwaite B and Sedbergh lost 7-3 at Endmoor B.
Lower Holker C, dominated 9-1 against Netherfield D, with a strong performance also from Ingleborough B, who won 7-3 against Staveley B. Sue Hillbeck (34 +101) leads the merits.
Allithwaite B hold top spot in Division Five after a 6-4 win at Langdale. However, they have their bye week ahead, giving the others chance to close the gap, led by second-placed Arnside B, who won 10-0 against Endmoor C.
Top of the merits and with the most points in all five divisions is David Slater, of Allithwaite B, (39pts +146) followed closely by Colin Richardson, of Arnside B, (36pts +140).

Staveley BC’s Open Pairs on Saturday was won by Ray Russell (Carnforth) and Keith Lowther (Warton) with a 21-8 victory over Bill Wilson and Thelma McBratney (Allithwaite) in the final.
The losing semi-finalists were Bill Harding and Ray Crompton (Staveley), who lost 21-8 to Wilson and McBratney and James Dennison and Ray Gott (Levens), who went out 21-15 to the eventual winners.
RICHARD Carruthers and Simon Walker beat Stephen Carruthers and Alan Waring 21-16 in an all Windermere final for the Bargain Booze Open Doubles (played for the Harry Brantinham Shield) at Queens Park, Windermere, on Sunday.
The losing semi-finalists were Sue Hogarth and Brian Boardley (Netherfield), who went out 21-19 to the eventual winners, and Mr and Mrs L. Keating (Lindale), beaten 21-16.

THE TOP three in the Rothay League all had good home victories, but Staveley’s 10-0 win over Coniston B moved them up into second place, above Burneside A. Only four points covers these teams, making for a interesting climax as the season moves towards its end in four weeks.
In Division 2, congratulations go to the Ambleside A team, whose 10-0 win over club rivals Ambleside B has already clinched their promotion to the top flight.
