NETHERFIELD and Kendal will have to meet again next Sunday, weather permitting, to play the final of the Furness Building Society Cup after rain forced the match to be abandoned.
Kendal had won the toss and inserted Netherfield on the Parkside Road wicket.
An unpromising start was made in overcast skies and a light drizzle and Netherfield had reached 73-3 off 12 overs with Alex Atkinson hitting 42 in quick time before he was the second wicket to fall, caught behind by Donovan Du Plessis off Stu Parkin.
Other wickets to fall were Craig Walmsley caught behind off Parkin for ten, and John Huck bowled by Jack White without scoring.
Tomorrow's derby match between Kendal and Netherfield at Shap Road looks very doubtful after heavy rain moved in.
More persistent rain led the umpires to bring the players off the field and play was called off shortly afterwards.
