KENDAL Town have signed goalkeeper Ben Hincliffe in the wake of David Newnes injury against Guiseley on Saturday.
Newnes, recognised as one of the UniBond league’s best keepers, was substituted after 87 minutes following a tackle with Lee Tuck and x-rays taken on Sunday show he has knee ligament damage, ruling him out for five to six weeks.
Town manager Lee Ashcroft has responded by signing Ben Hinchliffe, who played for the Parkside Road outfit in 2006.
Hinchliffe, 21, has been playing for Worcester City lately but previously enjoyed spells at Derby County, Oxford United and Tranmere Rovers.
He trained with Kendal Town in pre-season and has joined the squad for training on Thursday evenings.
Secretary Craig Campbell said Hinchliffe was happy to fill in for Newnes for as long as he is needed.
