CHIEF coach Jon Nicholson has called for Kendal to be prepared to “stand toe-to-toe” against Westoe in National League 2 North at Mint Bridge on Saturday..
The Black and Ambers trailed 17-0 in the first half to Rugby Lions and and eventually went down 25-11.
Nicholson said: “Although we were a little frantic in possession during the opening period of the game it was our defence that cost us.
“Two missed tackles from first-phase play, the first from a Rugby Lions lineout and the other from a scrum resulted in us conceding 14 points - the difference separating the teams at full time.
“Westoe put us to the sword in most areas of the game in the reverse fixture back in October, outscoring us four tries to nil in the first period.
“As well as improving our concentration and execution defensively we will need more technical accuracy in finishing off scoring opportunities that we create.
“They also possess one of the most aggressive packs in the league and it is vital that we stand toe-to-toe and produce quality ball from the contact areas on Saturday.”
