North Lancs Football - Metcalfe strike earns Kirkby Lonsdale point in drop-zone struggle

HARD frost overnight killed off all but ten games in the Honda Lancaster North Lancashire League on Saturday.

Kirkb Lonsdale’s Premier Division clash with Ingleton only received the go-ahead from the referee after an inspection for frost just before kick-off time.

There was good football from both sides and a 1-1 draw was the fairest result with a former Kirkby player Nathan Jackson scoring for Ingleton, while Andy Metcalfe replied for Kirkby Lonsdale.

This outcome still leaves both sides in danger of going into the relegation area, with Kirkby third from bottom and Ingleton just three places above.

The only other Premier fixture saw Bowerham canter to a 5-0 victory over Halton Rangers with goals from Simon Gillespie (2), Andy Strachan, a Tom Devlin penalty ad Matthew Buczynski.

In Division One only one game survived but it produced seven goals with Storeys Reserves edgeing out Millhead 4-3.

A solitary Division Two fixture went ahead and Trimpell moved into second place after dispatching Halton Rangers Reserves 7-2. A Gareth Pedder hat-trick led the way with other goals from Dave Holt, Joe Entwistle, Sam McKee and David Riley.

In Division Three Burton Thistle and AFC Moorlands played out a goalless draw on a hard pitch at Burton as both defences were on top.

Burton had most chances but lacked the killer punch and it was easy to see why both teams are below halfway in the division.

Bolton-le-Sands Reserves played well against a Gregson side pushing for promotion in Division 3.

Sands have lost all their games so far this season and looked doomed to relegation back to Division 4, but they put up a spirited display but went behind to a Michael Clegg penalty.

Clegg scored a brilliant second goal from 30 yards, spotting the keeper off his line and sending in a lob to seal the points and move his side up to second place.

In Division 4 Burton Thistle Reserves gained revenge for a 10-2 thrashing earlier in the season by College AFC Reserves, by winning the return game at College1-0 thnaks to a Jake Armistead goal.
