THOSE who watched the Loughborough game must have enjoyed the pace and flair on display.
We played well but they always seemed to have more players near the ball and they showed the level of fitness you can’t achieve by attending your local gym’s Bums, Tums and Bingo Wings class. Phil Burgess their number 8 was my man of the match, seeming to be everywhere.
This week we travel to Lightfoot Lane for our derby with Preston Grasshoppers and that will be about heart not just fitness.
Alex Keay is a wily and experienced coach and knows how to put together a strong team.
Big Mark Rigby and Dominic Moon in the engine room and Owen McKenna at full back will be players to watch.
But if we can take our workrate from last Saturday forward we will match them.
Billy Coxon was selected to represent the Anti-Assasins against Cambridge University in midweek in recognition of his services to the game.
Supporters at Mint Bridge know that he won’t be outshone in a team made up of ex-internationals and stars of the game.
