SIXTEEN-year-old Jonathan Nelson won a bronze medal at the 2010 British Junior Power Lifting Championships in Bournemouth.
He was competing in the Under-18s 82kg weight class.
Jonathan, who trains with his dad at the family home in Allithwaite, achieved 175kg in the dead-lift event; 97.5kg in the event bench pressing and 110kg squatting for a 382.5kg.total.
Jonathan said: “I was very pleased with my performance, but due to me being 0.65kg over weight I had to enter the heavier 82kg weight class, and not the 75kg which I had been aiming for.
At only 16 I still have another year to gain and hopefully next year aim for number one.”
Jonathan will compete next in North West Championships in Colne, Burnley.
