Town sign Stringfellow as Ashcroft awaits appeal decision

KENDAL Town have snapped up 16-year-old Gareth Stringfellow.

The centre forward was first recommended to the club by Lee Ashcroft aged just 11, and has signed after impressing in training recently.

He has previoulsy played with Bolton Wanderers and Preston North End.

Elsewhere, Ashcroft will discover his suspension fate when he appears before the FA in Manchester today, Friday.

Ashcroft was sent off in a game against Kings Lynn in October and received a three month ban from all football and a further three month suspended ban until July 2011, which he is appealing.
