Cumbria Women’s Hockey League Penrith Ladies 0 Ulverston Ladies 6 .

Ulverston extended their lead at the top of the league with a storming victory over Penrith Ladies.

Two goals apiece from Nikki Satterthwaite and Rachael Roberts and a Helene Burrow tap in at the near post gave the visitors a commanding 5-0 lead at half-time.

After the break Penrith were harder to break down and Roberts had to leave the field with an injured foot, but eventually the breakthrough came.

A Karen/Steph Tyson strike from a penalty corner passed the keeper at the right post to complete a 6-0 rout.

Kirkby Stephen 3 Ambleside 6 A hat trick from Alison Westworth helped Ambleside to a 6-3 victory at Kirkby Stephen on Saturday.

After Donna Robinson struck home a penalty corner, Westworth notched two goals before a Kirkby Stephen goal reduced arrears to 3-1 at half-time.

Helen Barber extended the lead to 4-1 before two quick goals made the game close again, but Robinson scored a second penalty corner shot and Westworth rounded the match off with a reverse stick flick at the near post for 6-3.

Netherwood Development League Ambleside 2 Ulverston 0 Jess Young and Lucy Mackareth scored to give Ambleside’s development side a deserved 2-0 win on Sunday.

The home side were the stronger throughout and when Young split through the Ulverston defence there was only one outcome and she coolly placed a reverse flick past the keeper.

Mackareth then doubled the advantage late on when she swept home a penalty corner.
