West Lancashire Football League Division One Milnthorpe Corinthians 0 Hesketh Bank 3.

A Neil Hulme hat trick ended Milnthorpe Corinthians' five game unbeaten run at the weekend.

The visitors started brighter and were assisted by the wind as they gained an upper hand on their mid-table counterparts.

Making the most of the wind advantage it was Hesketh who had control at half-time after two sloppy goals were gifted to debutant Hulme.

The first came on the half hour mark when Cors failed to clear in defence and Hulme headed home and just 10 minutes later he fired home from a goalmouth scramble.

In the second half Cors came out fighting but several chances were spurned.

Manager Keith Singleton welcomed back Stef Postlethwaite from a lengthy injury lay-off, hoping to get back into the match, but despite going close on a couple of occasions, he failed to reduce arrears, while the visiting keeper did well to block a Chris Vincent shot from just inside the area.

And in the dying minutes Hulme lashed home a free kick from 25 yards to complete a perfect start to his Hesketh Bank career.

Singleton said: “To be fair they were the better team on the day and we have played four games in ten days which has clearly taken a bit out of our lads. However, we will be ready for next weekend.”

Cors will hope to bounce back against Burneside in the Westmorland Senior Cup on Saturday.
