THE ONLY thing to say about Saturday’s defeat at Caldy was that it was more exciting than the Calcutta Cup!
There were tries but unfortunately for us we were on the receiving end of a good Caldy performance where former Cumbrian Craig Smithson was the star man.
The No8 made ground and ran strongly whenever he had the ball.
This week Fylde visit Mint Bridge and what better game to get back to winning ways than the visit of our Woodlands rivals.
A big favourite of the crowd and with a large travelling contingent of their own, it will be an atmosphere laden day just right to raise the motivation levels for the players.
Fylde have been suffering from travelling sickness, winning only three games on the road but coach Mark Nelson loves to get one over on Kendal and will be prowling the touchlines urging his men on.
They have a big pack powered by lock Roger Banks and No8 Sam Beaumont, with half-backs Craig Aikman and Tom Barlow running the midfield.
Mark Ireland’s broken hand is undoubtably a blow but the return of John Ladell is a welcome boost to our backline. Once again Mint Bridge is likely to produce more adrenalin than the the Six Nations damp squib.
