UniBond Premier Division Full time: Kendal Town 5 Durham City 0.
KENDAL Town strolled to three points against ten-man Durham City as they returned to league action with a 5-0 win at the Lakeland Radio Stadium.
Two-goal showings from Alex Taylor and Keiran Walmsley were sandwiched by a Danny Wisdom strike as Town finally hit the scoring charts.
Alex Taylor opened the scoring after six minutes when Keiran Walmsley ran through the defence and crossed for him to slot home from eight yards.
And a minute later Taylor made it 2-0 following a poor clearance from Durham keeper Rhys Jobling.
The ball was headed forward and Taylor found himself one-on-one with Jobling and he tucked the ball under the keeper from the edge of the box and it rolled into the bottom corner.
Town grabbed their third on 35 minutes to seal a 3-0 lead when Wisdom fired home from eight yards, his well-angled shot creeping in off the post.
In the second half Town pulled further ahead from the penalty spoton 63 minutes. Taylor was through on goal thanks to a Walmsley ball over the top of the visiting defence but he was taken down by Dan Saunders as he pulled the trigger.
Saunders saw red and Peter Wright stepped up for the penalty. Wright’s shot was parried by the keeper but fell to Carl Osman who was then taken down by the keeper as he turned to shoot.
This time Walmsley stepped up and fired the ball down the middle for 4-0, And it was Walmsley who wrapped up the 5-0 win on 83 minutes with an identical spot kick after Osman was skittled by Gareth Ayers just inside the box.
Town were dominant throughout and could have hit double figures but the three points were key and the comfortable victory will give the side confidence as they prepare for Tuesday night’s visit to Marine.
