SWIMMING: Kendal ASC's third Championship Gala produced some exciting swims and two club records were broken.
The first to fall was in the girls U/12 100m freestyle when Bethany Fleetwood with a powerful swim clocked 1.14.56, chased home by Cara Marshall 1.15.52 and Abigail Taylor in 1.27.37 The second was in the ladies 200m butterfly. Catherine Pickthall 2.34.18 maintained her strong form to take victory and shave half a second off the club record with Nicola Rigg battling for second in 2.52.41 and Emma Matthews third in 3.04.46 To round off a great evening the final event was the Clubs and Workshop Challenge Shield; this social team event gave both the parents and swimmers the chance to swim as a team with a handicap. In a noisy exciting race Sarah's Sharks 1.24.39 were victorious with Pop Idol second 1.26.75 and Abbey and her clerks third in 1.27.10
