CONDITIONS were ideal for a fast time in the annual Hawkshead 10k and Carl Heaven, of Annan AC, duly obliged with a course record of 32min 50 sec.
Preston's Eddie Simpson, in second place, was also inside the old record of 32:54.
Third overall and first male veteran over 45 was Alex Rowe from Wesham.
Hazel Jones, Dallam, again won the ladies race in a personal best of 39:52, followed by Keswick's Angela Brand-Barker in 40:27. Third lady was Jennifer Dunn, of Helm Hill.
There was a record turn out of 178 runners for the Kendal AC-organised event.
