The Enray Inter-national, in Holland is rated as one of the best in Europe, and the British Cadet team, including Kendal Judo Club's Michael Horley and Beth Hoggarth, were up against some 1700 of the best players from 17 different nations.
First onto the mat was Horley and with three matches completed he had made it to the semi final eventually taking the bronze.
Hoggarth dispatched her first opponent on points), her second match was won with a superb drop kata-garuma (shoulder wheel). A points win in her third bout put her in the final.
After initially struggling against her opponent she quickly changed tactics and started to fight left handed. With her opponent confused she struck with a beautiful uchi-mata (inner-thigh throw) to take gold.
