North Lancs: Cartmel gain revenge through...

FORMER Windermere player Peter Whitehead came up trumps for Cartmel as he scored the only goal in the game as the village side gained swift revenge for an early-season defeat by CCM Dynamos.

In the only other Premier League match played because of Lancashire Amateur Shield action, Kirkby Lonsdale overwhelmed Torrisholme.

Craig Holmes gave Torrisholme an early lead, but it was short-lived as Brian Pennington, Chris Vincent (2), Mark Rendall, Andy Metcalfe and Yaffa Bojang (2) opened up a 7-1 lead. Aaron Caldwell added a late second for Torrisholme.

Unbeaten Swarthmoor SC continue to set the pace in Division One when they recorded their fifth win from six matches to run out comfortable 4-1 victory over Vine. Graham Wilcock continued his rich scoring vein with Dean Leach, Ryan Lackey and Neil Clousdale also finding the net.

Cartmel Reserves remain second after beating Grange 2-0 in their local derby. Veteran Paul Airey, 45, scored one and made the second for Lee Tracey.

Dave Preece scored from a corner as Ingleton Reserves came from behind to end Galgate's unbeaten record. Chis Haslam opened the scoring for Galgate then second half substitute Chris Bibby equalised for Ingleton.

Promoted Bentham are finding their feet in Division One and enjoyed a comfortable 3-0 victory over Arnside. Stuart Louth, Gary Louth and James Earnshaw were on target.

Burton Thistle won their local derby with Millhead 4-2. Reuben Gray scored a brilliant hat-trick but veteran Mark Smith slammed in the goal of the game. Millhead were always a threat and scored through Anthony Leonard and a Derek Davidson penalty.

Division Two leaders Bolton-le-Sands dropped points when they could only draw 1-1 with Caton United Reserves, but they did score both goals. Andy Bowker hit the right net while Joe Houghton found his own.

Second-placed Swarthmoor Reserves just beat Freehold, Jamie Donald scoring the all-important single goal.

The 1-1 draw between Allithwaite Rangers and Trimpell could have gone either way although Allithwaite, still without a win this season, finished the stronger. Andy Paisley scored their goal.

Eleven goals went in as Torrisholme Reserves beat Kirkby Lonsdale Rangers 7-4. Danny Walker opened the scoring for Rangers, but Torrisholme stormed to a 5-1 half-time lead.

Second half substitute Ebou Bojang then began to control the game and set up Paul Taylor and Lee Dickinson to reduce the arrears to 5-3. Torrisholme hit back with two more to put the goal beyond Kirkby, despite Bojang scoring a well-deserved goal near the end.

Holme Athletic beat bottom side Westgate Rangers 1-0 with a superb Paul Hine strike.

Kevin Burns scored six goals as Grange Reserves were demolished 7-0 by Division Three leaders Poulton United.

Second-placed Central Pier hammered Allithwaite Rangers Reserves 6-0 and Millhead Reserves moved up to third after beating pointless Galgate Reserves 6-1. Carl Wakeman, Steven Everson, Mark Blamire, Steven Brandley Danny Burrows and Joe Wooff were all on target for Millhead.

Newcomers Furness slumped to a 3-0 defeat by Bowerham in Division Four while Bentham Reserves started their season with an encouraging 4-1 victory over Carnforth Rangers Reserves, Sean Lister, Danny Earnshaw and Tomi Pathan (2) scored the Bentham goals.
